Ace201.jpg
Ace @ WCRR

Age: Young Adult.        Breed: Mixed

Ace 's Story:
No he is not a Rottweiler. We were told he was but we could not see much rottie in this boy.

Ace came into our care when he found himself homeless because his young owner had taken on more than she had counted on. He was an untrained 11 month old boy that needed structure and leadership. He easily could have become too unruly for the average family to handle. But we soon found that given a chance, he made a great family companion.

Ace loves other dogs and we knew that he needed playmates to keep him busy. He also needed someone with experience with big dogs that could give him the direction he needed. He needed to be given a life with consistency, love, and guidance. And we managed to find that for him.

While I initially was a little wary about Ace around small children, he quickly proved himself. He loves the children he lives with. He adores his new mom and dad. He is having a great time playing with the resident female that he allows to boss him around. And he has learned to respect the cat. What more could a dog ask for.

Bella @ WCRR

Age: Adult        Breed: Rottie

Bella 's Story:
The story just doesn't get any sadder than this.

Bella lost her home thru no fault of her own. The family that owned her lost their home in a fire. They lost absolutely everything they owned. The family did try to keep Bella and the other dogs they had, but could not find housing for them all. They signed Bella over to the Delta shelter.

Bella had gone thru so many changes that she just couldn't cope with. First being caught in a house fire, being dragged out by strangers, being put in a strange kennel with people walking by all the time looking at her. She reacted much the way one would expect. She was afraid and she expressed this by growling. The shelter staff just wasn't sure how to help her and asked that we take her on.

WCRR didn't have a foster home and Bella had to wait awhile but finally someone stepped forward for this girl. We were told that Bella had some issues with strange men, and that she was very particular about other dogs in her space. And while this might have been true while in the shelter, she has proven herself to her new family. She lives happily with other dogs of all sizes, loves the attention she receives from children and has learned to trust humans again.

Bentley @ WCRR foster home

Age: Baby        Breed: Rottweiler/Husky/?

Bentley 's Story:
Update at 5 weeks old Bentley, Clara and Evony are being fostered together

This boy is one BIG baby! He sleeps on or in the food dish as often as he can, sometimes landing in the water! He is very fiesty when he plays with his sisters and when he howls he let's out a snort now and then! Can definitely see the husky in this guy!

1bolt.jpg
Bolt @ WCRR

Age: Young Adult        Breed: rottweiler

Bolt 's Story:
Meet Bolt: This wonderful young boy has proven that even though he has been treated so very harshly in the past, he still trusts in humans. Bolt was found running free in the Fraser Valley. From the conditions of his head wounds, it was clear that he had been shot in the head and had been injured for several days. The very kind staff at Animal Control took Bolt right to a vet to have his wounds taken care of. They then contacted us to see if we could take him into our care, and of course we said yes.

Bolt has now landed in a foster home. He has had a second surgery to close his head wounds, has been neutered and has been vaccinated. Bolt will not be ready for adoption until he has completely healed, and we get a chance to know him better. We are accepting applications for this boy, but you will have to be patient. Bolt seems to be your typical friendly goofy rotti boy. He was full of butt wiggles and kisses when he met his foster family! He spent the first night meeting the resident dogs and settling in, and has done well. From what we can tell, Bolt has no obedience training. He will need a gentle but firm hand. Obedience classes will be a mandatory part of his adoption agreement.

Bubba @ WCRR foster home

Age: 2        Breed: Rottweiler

UPDATES:    June 18/11
Barclay has found his forever home. When he met Mike, you could see the connection. mike has a strong calm personality and that is just what Barclay needs. Mike will take him biking up the mountain, show him the necessary boundaries, and most important will teach Barclay to be a calm dog. Thank you Mike.

May 31/11 Update from Barclay's trainer

Barclay is doing much better on leash, and is coming to a sit about 70% of the time when we stop walking. He doesn't go ahead of me in doorways anymore, too.

He's doing much better with the cat (I've yet to have him off leash with the cat, though).

His one on one dog situations is getting better, but he is not very good about assessing the situation.

He's 100% crate trained, and hasn't lifted his leg in the house since the last incident (he is also fed in his crate, and has no problems with me taking the bowl/food away from him in his crate).

He is a whiner, though. He's a soft dog that has been spoiled/let get away with things, to make him think he's tough (but he sure isn't). He's very sweet, and will make someone a great pet, as long as they set the boundaries from the moment he steps foot in their door.

May 25/11
We have decided that Barclay (Bubba) really needs a different kind of enviroment. He needs someone that is strong enough to handle him, can provide lots of structure and a ton of exercise. He is still learning that the city life isn't so bad and that people love him.
In return you will have a dog that is eager to please, quick to learn and bonds well. Barclay will not go to a first time rottweiler owner. He needs someone that understands that he is a 2 yr old male bonehead. While he is great with people, he is very very pushy around other dogs and needs to be carefully managed. In the right hands, this will be a great addition to a active family. obedience classes are manadatory.

May 4/11
Bubba has been in his foster home for 3 weeks now. He is doing very well but we are finding that the dog park is not the place for him. He loves his people and he gets along with other dogs very well but there is simply too much going on at the dog park for him to remember his manners. If all goes well, Bubba will be adopted by his foster family.

April 10/11
Bubba has made it down to the lower mainland. He is such a sweet boy that seems to love all the attention. He needs to be introduced to all things city as he really is a country boy. His foster family is going to take things slow but Bubba is learn about traffic, school kids, dog parks, etc. and if all works well his foster family may adopt him.

March 28/11
Bubba does well with respectful dogs. He seems to be housetrained as he is clean in his kennel. Bubba is now neutered and ready to go to his new home. Because of his unknown past, we will not adopt him to a family with small children.

Bubba 's Story:
Feb 3/11
Bubba is a stray that wandered onto someone's property in the middle of the Fraser Canyon. There are few homes there and everyone in the area was contacted but no one knew who he belonged to. The good looking boy most likely was just dumped. When a male rottweiler hits his teenage years they can become a handful. And Bubba does not seem to have much training.

We are waiting for a foster home to open up here in the lower mainland so we can get him down here and neutered.

Buddy 1.jpg
Buddy @ North Van Foster home

Age: 12 weeks ???        Breed: Rottie/Mutt

UPDATES:    Dec 19 Adoption Pending

Dec 10
Buddy is quite the little man. he is good with dogs but can stand up for himself if he needs to. Buddy has moved into a new foster home so we can give him a little more training but really, he is a pretty good boy. He can be loving and affectionate when he wants to but he can also tell you off quickly.
We think Buddy is a rottie husky mix. Whatever it is he is pretty darn cute.
We would like Buddy to go to a home that is active and wants to train, train, train. He is as smart as a whip and quickly submits to those he trusts. But because he is so smart, he needs to be taught all about life.
Buddy is working on his housemanners, is up to date with shots and is crate trained. Part of his adoption contract is that he is neutered before the adoption is finalized. But Buddy is ready to go to his new home after the holidays.

Buddy 's Story:
Adopted here is a note from his new family

So he came to us as Buddy, and after a week of getting to know him, we are naming him Simba. A couple things we've learned so far about Simba. He is very smart, he loves children, and adores his new adoptive parents. He has no problem having us take away toys, food, or whatever he's found on the ground and retrieving those items from his mouth. He loves to cuddle, and in our Squamish home, his favourite thing in the world is our friend's bean-bag chair. Puppy classes started yesterday and Simba did really well! He has a hard time understanding why he is not allowed to play with all the other dogs there though. Simba now goes into his crate on his own for time outs. He doesn't growl or get grumbly before nap time. Everyone that meets him on our walks just adores him and they mostly comment on how calm he is for a 5 month old little guy. We absolutely love our new puppy and can't' imagine our life without him. He's really come a long way in just a week, so we look forward to how well trained he will be in the near future.

Buddy came into our care on Nov 21st and we are guessing his age. He is a little cutie but very confident and full of himself. He loves to play with other dogs but is not tested with cats. He is being fostered by dog savy children but would do best in a home with older children.
We don't know all there is to know about Buddy but we do know that he had a hard start to life. He came into his original rescuer flea infested with a wound on his side. That wound was infected and we think it was a dog bite. But Buddy has been cleaned up and vetted and is now fine.

Clara @ WCRR foster home

Age: Baby        Breed: Rottie/Husky/?

Clara 's Story:
Update Feb 3 at 5 weeks old
Clara is the runt of the litter and she is a definite Diva! She is very playful, can beat up her brother who is twice her size and she let's out a mean howl when she wants some love!

Dexter @ West Coast Rottweiler Rescue

Age: Baby        Breed: lab/husky/rottweiler/?

Dexter 's Story:
Dexter is a happy, playful little pup, and the first to come running when he's called. He will sometimes try to put on the tough guy act with his siblings but really is just a big baby. He will jump in to play the role of protector though if his sisters' wrestling gets out of hand. Dexter learns very quickly and is doing well with both house training and some basic obedience commands. Although there seems to be a lot of Labrador traits in this guy, he has quite the Husky howl just to let you know how unhappy he is at being left out of something.

Diva.jpg
Diva @ WCRR

Age: 2        Breed: Rottweiler

Diva 's Story:
Diva is a beautiful dog and there were so many interested in her. She has now been placed in a loving home.

This girl is just coming into care and we are getting to know her. She will not be adopted before she has been spayed. No more puppies for this girl

Evony.jpg
Evony @ WCRR foster home

Age: Baby        Breed: Rottie/Husky/?

Evony 's Story:
Feb 3 Evony is 5 weeks old. Evony is being fostered with Bentley and Clara
Evony is very sweet and affectionate, craves cuddles and love. She is also very playful and very smart! She walks on leash already and is very quick! Keeps up with the big dogs!

1271106356-George.jpg
George @ WCRR

Age: Young Adult        Breed: Rotti/GSD

George 's Story:
George is a wonderful young boy!

We are thinking he is crossed with a German Shepherd, but who really knows. George is very dog social, is learning to live with cats, and bonds deeply to his humans. We don't think George has had much exposure to city life so we are taking things slowly. He gets a little stressed riding in the car, but settles down quickly. He is a shy boy that will need to slowly be introduced to new experiences.

George must attend obedience classes with his new owners. While he is good on the leash, and knows sit, there are many other things he needs to learn and obedience classes are a good way for him to bond to his family and learn at the same time. We would prefer that George go to a family without very small children only because of his size and puppy behavior. Ideally, his new family would have big dog experience and another dog to play and teach George the ropes.

Ginger @ WCRR foster home 3

Age: Adult        Breed: Husky/lab/?

Ginger 's Story:
Ginger is very calm, gentle and affectionate, happy just to hang out on your lap. While her sister and brother will often whine, bark or howl to show their displeasure with something, Ginger will busy herself with a toy or lie down quietly and go to sleep. Although Ginger can be a little shy when introduced to something new and may need a little help or encouragement she learns quickly. Ginger can often be found lying down with her face in the food bowl finishing up the last little bits, her brother and sister already off onto their next adventure.

Herbie @

Age: 6        Breed: Rottweiler

Herbie 's Story:
This boy is called Herbie cause he's a love bug. (this shows my age) Herbie has been hiding out at our foster home for several months while decisions were made about what was best for him. There is so much about his past that we don't know but at this point none of us care. We do know Herbie is a wonderful dog and he deserves the best home ever. And here is our wish list for him: A quiet home. Herbie can be fearful. He is not aggressive but new things worry him. He will need to be introduced to new experiences slowly and calmly. Our feeling is that children would be far too much excitement for him. A friend: Herbie has been living with a smaller female that he absolutely adores. He would do well as a second dog, preferably to a well balanced female. Because he is an adult there is none of the silly puppy behavior. He is past the chewing on the shoes and tearing apart everything. But he does love his squeaky toys and often can be seen running and shaking them. Herbie has done well off leash staying close by and always checking in. His house manners are impeccable. Never a problem even when we work all day. Hebie the Love Bug bonds deeply with those he trusts. If your looking for a dog that only wants to be a part of your life, please email us at wcrr.info@gmail.com

1271105377-Jake2.jpg
Jake @ http://bigheartrescue.com/

Age: 1        Breed: Rottie/Lab cross

Jake 's Story:
Jake was a sad thrown away stray who was found in a remote First Nations community 4 days after he was badly injured by a car.

He was flown into the loving arms of Big Heart Rescue and taken immediately to the vets office for an assessment.

It was discovered that Jake is thought to be approximately 1.5 years of age, a Lab x Rotti mix and due to the extensive injuries he sustained he has just under-gone a rear leg amputation.

This sweet soul is emaciated and will need to gain approximately 25 pounds to bring him up to an ideal weight of 85 pounds. He has been vaccinated, microchipped, neutered and tattooed.

Through all his trauma, his pain and his broken heart this boy reached out with a soft kiss to those who rescued him. He became a favourite at the vets office as he melted hearts with his kind brown eyes and is now in a medical rehab foster home where he can begin a new life, one filled with meeting all his wishes and dreams.

His foster home adores this young man and Jake loves being around his other dog and cat friends, all of whom he gets along with.

Jake is not yet ready for adoption but we are accepting applications for this true survivor and will begin the process of ensuring he finds his forever and perfect match.

Jake @ West Coast Rottweiler Rescue

Age: 2        Breed: Rottweiler

Jake 's Story:
It is official. Jake is now a beloved member of a wonderful family.

Jake is gone on a foster to adopt contract and we are hoping this is his forever home

Poor Jake just has too much energy for his own good.
Jake was found in the summer of 2010 running free in a small town. The aminal control people there called us asking if we could take him in and find him a home. We did that but the home we found couldn't provide Jake with the kind of exercise and discipline an active young male Rottie needs. Jake is very much like the energizer bunny. He just goes and goes and goes.
What he wants is to be with someone that is home most of the time, perhaps has another dog to play with, and MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH ROTTWEILERS.
We failed Jake once by placing him in a home that wasn't suited for him. We can't make that mistake again.

1271106490-Lana.jpg
Lana @ WCRR

Age: Baby        Breed: Rotti

Lana 's Story:
Lana Banana

What a sweet little thing Lana is. West Coast Rottweiler Rescue was asked to bring Lana down from Smithers so that she could have a chance at a great home. We were thrilled to bring this baby into care.

Lana's story is one of real sadness. She was found in a Rubbermaid tote filled with bricks and with holes punched in the sides down by a river. It was clear that whomever had her was just going to throw her in the river rather than try to find her a home. Thank goodness that river was frozen and she was found and taken into the care of North West Animal Shelter (http://www.nwass.ca)

Lana was with us several weeks while we took care of her spay, tattoo, shots, etc. While everyone wanted a cute little puppy, we needed to find her just the right home. And that home showed up fairly quickly. Lana has a big rotti brother to play with, has the run of the house, has had the cat teach her that cats are not toys and even has a pool. She is adored, loved, and cared for which is exactly what we wanted for her.

Lexi @ WCRR

Age: 1        Breed: Rottie Mix

Lexi 's Story:
Feb 2/11
Lexi has gone to what we hope will be her new home. She is currently in a foster to adopt setting. While we thought it would be great for her to learn about being a good dog from another dog, it seems she has taught the resident dog to Bark. LOL Good going Lexi

Jan 21/11
Lexi has stolen the heart of her foster mom. This little cutie has gone to dog parks and loves to swim. she is pretty darn easy on leash, is getting really good with her housetraining. She is a tiny girl of only about 50 lbs. Lexi would do well in almost any type of home but she loves to play with other dogs so having a friend would be great from her.

This sweet girl came into care just a litte while ago. As you can see she is busy taking care of her pups.
Lexit is sweet and is good with other dogs. She is trusting of humans and will be easy to train with love and fairness.
Lexi will not be available until she is finished with her pups and has been spayed

Louie web.jpg
Louie @ WCRR

Age: 4        Breed: Rottie Cross

UPDATES:    May 4/11

We are very very pleased to say that Louie has found his forever home. He has stolen the hearts of Jill and Gordie and everyone is so very happy for them all. Louie got shuffled around quite abit but thru it all he proved what a loving and kind boy he was. We will stay in close touch with Jill, Gordie and Louie but only because we love them all

Louie 's Story:

March 28/11

Louie is back with us and we are thrilled to have him. It is not his fault that he is homeless again. The home we picked was not the right one and so Louie is looking again.

He is good with other dogs and we are told that he can live with cats but they would need to be introduced properly. Louie is a gentle soul, and just wants to be with his people. Louie deserves a special home with someone that will not fail him again. He wants a family that will allow him to live inside with them. He wants a yard to relax in. And he most likely would like another dog to live with.

Lucky @

Age: 5        Breed: cat

Lucky 's Story:
This poor girl was found in a shipping container. Every effort was made to find her owners but she was not microchipped or tattooed.
Because we knew nothing about her health she went to visit our fav vet and then into foster home. After almost 2 weeks of no one asking about her, she has gone to a wonderful new home at adores her

Lucy5.jpg
Lucy @ WCRR foster home 3

Age: Baby        Breed: Rottie/Husky/Lab/?

UPDATES:    June 18
While we were starting to wonder what we were doing wrong, I think that the universe was just keeping Lucy safe until she could meet her forever home and they showed up for her.

Lucy is going to live with Mitch and Katy and their little Terrier Milo. Lucy is living very close to me and I will get to see her in the local parks. Way to go lucy.

June 6
Despite all our efforts Lucy still remains up for adoption. She is a great girl. She is wonderful with dog savy cats, all the dogs she meets and people of all sizes, shapes and ages. But we will not give up yet. Her special home is out there just waiting for her. We have added new pictures for your enjoyment. These were taken a week ago at the beach. As you can see, nothing stops with girl and she takes all her new experiences in stride

May 28
How time flies for this sweet little thing. Lucy is in a foster home that is exposing her to everything they can. And Lucy is learning to take it all in stride. She loves playing with dogs and tolerates the cats. She is meeting a ton of people and doing really well. Her foster mom has taught her to use the bells on the door to let her know when a pee break is needed. Lucy is 5 months old now and is more then ready for her forever home

March 28/11
Lucy is 12 weeks old now. She is a bundle of energy, quick to learn but very very headstrong. Lucy will need to be adopted by a family that knows and understands the value of training and socialization. Lucy will not be adopted as a first time dog. She is good with cats that know dogs and can easily live with another dog. Please contact us for an applications.

Lucy 's Story:
Lucy is now 5 weeks old. Lucy seems to be able to tackle most things that come her way, except maybe the rain and getting her feet wet. Even though she is a little smaller than her siblings she usually wins most of her wrestling matches. Lucys favourite activity is to run down and steal a toy off the big dog bed and usually ends up with both the toy and the bed. She has even won a few games of tug with the big dog. Lucy loves attention so at mealtimes she is often too busy wanting to be picked to notice the food bowl has been put down so often needs a little help getting in there before the foods all gone.

Lux @ WCRR foster home 2

Age: Baby        Breed: Rottie/ Husky/?

Lux 's Story:
Lux is 5 weeks old. She is being fostered with Macey her sister.

Lux is the type of puppy who makes all other puppies look purely evil. Sweet and full of love, she loves giving ear kisses, and is perfectly content to sleep at your feet. To say she is clever, is an understatement she has officially mastered the art of 'grunting' at the door to be let out. Definitely the alpha of the two puppies, Lux loves to be in charge of the toys, and is an avid tug-a-war fanatic. Lux is definitley an energetic puppy, and loves to play with toys that she can shake in her mouth. She is somewhat shy to approach new experiences (such as cats), but once she tests the waters she is ready to dive right in.

Lux would do well in a home prepared to dish out discipline. She likes to be sneaky, and will try and steal things she knows she shouldnt have, when she believes nobody is looking. She is the more dominant of the puppies, and likes to hog food dishes, water bowls and toys when she thinks she can get away with it.

Mack @ WCRR

Age: 3        Breed: Rottweiler

Mack 's Story:
Mack is a 3 yr old male that has come from a local animal shelter as a stray and we are still getting to know each other. But this is what we do know.
Mack has no manners. He thinks he is king of the world and needs to be taught that using his mouth to get your attention is NOT acceptable. In fact, Mack needs to learn that the only thing he can use that mouth for is to eat and give kisses.
This is a prime example of what happens when you adopt a dog and do not give him/her any training. Mack has never learned that jumping, mouthing, and humping are rude behaviours. he is learning what proper play is with other dogs and we have found that he is NOT safe around small animals such as cat, rabbits or pet rodents. Mack is currently in boarding learning all about being a good dog. Because of his over excitment, he will not be adopted to a home with small children and must be place with someone that understands the value of exercise and training

Macy @ WCRR foster home 2

Age: Baby        Breed: Husky/Lab/Rottie/?

Macy 's Story:
Feb 3/11 Macy is 5 weeks old and being fostered with her sister Lux

Macy adores being near people. She is a cuddle bug to the extreme. She loves to sleep on her back with her belly up, as close to you as she possibly can. Macy is incredible inquisitive, and faces new things with puppy exhuberance. She likes to wrestle with the cat, but is incredibly gentle. She loves kids, and will chase them until they collapse from exhaustion, and then she is prepared to cuddle for hours. She loves chasing balls, and will run after a ball no matter it's size (we're working on the bringing it back part). She is very eager to please, and loves attention. She is picking up somewhat slower on the house-training than her sister, but she's still learning quickly. She is quick to play with the bigger dogs, but backs off right away if they show signs of displeasure.

Maddie2.jpg
Maddie @ WCRR Foster home

Age: 7 months        Breed: Rottie Cross

Maddie 's Story:
Meet Maddie!!!
This girl is amazing She loves everyone. She is great with other dogs, good with people, calm around kids, and even ignores the cat. Maddie is crate and house trained. She could use some work on the leash but all in all is a good girl. And Maddie LOVES to swim. We would like for Maddie to go to a home that is going to make her part of the family, will continue with training and leadership. We are hoping that whoever adopts Maddie already has a dog to keep her company

Oliver.jpg
Oliver Twist @ Surrey Foster home

Age: 4 months old        Breed: Rottie Mix

UPDATES:    Adoption pending

Oliver Twist has had his operation. Our vet preformed the operation on Nov 24th. Oliver is resting in the hospital for a day or so, but the operation went very very well. We are grateful for all the support that we have received over the last little while for Oliver. Operations like this are expensive and can quickly drain our resources. But we can’t NOT do it.

There was some discussion about leaving his hernia alone. He was not in any discomfort but there was always going to be the danger of more organs pushing thru the hernia or the hernia closing on his liver. After consultation with our vet, we really felt it was in his best interest to do it now rather then hope it was never needed. Taking care of it now meant that when he finally went to his forever home, they would not have to worry about him or the huge expense they could face.

We are now set up with CanadaHelps. Any donation over $ 20.00 will receive at tax receipt at the end of the years. We very much appreciate all the help.

Oliver Twist 's Story:
Poor Mr. Twist. He was brought into a rescue in 100 Mile House in northern BC and it was there that they found that he needed medical care that was beyond their capabilities. We were asked if we could help and I knew that we could not refuse. While its hard to raise funds anywhere, we have access to better vet care here on the coast then what is available in small town.

Oliver Twist is very much a normal puppy. He adores the dogs he lives with and is respectful of the cats. He takes his direction from the older dogs and we want him to go to a home where there is another mature dog for him to play with but also to learn from. He is learning about using the doggie door but because he is still a puppy does still have accidents. He will need a home where someone is around to help with the house training.

While he seems like a normal puppy, he isn't. Oliver Twist has a diaphoretic hernia. It is very large and part of his liver has pushed thru and is up against his heart. It has been a difficult decision to do the surgery because he "might" be fine without it. But might is not good enough for us. We need to be certain that this never prohibits him from getting a great home. There is a picture of what appeared to be his heart but was really his liver blocking the view.

Oliver Twist will get his surgery on Nov 24th. We do not have a final total amount needed for it, but we will worry about money another time. Right now our focus is to make sure this sweetheart gets the very best care available.

If you would like to donate to this expensive operation you can do so thru the website, or you can contact us for the name of our vet and you can donate directly.

Otis   @ Courtsey Listing

Age: 7        Breed: Black Tan White

Otis   's Story:
We are looking for that one special person to complete Otis, and give him that “forever” home this dog so deserves.
Otis is a hound mix, and seems to have a lot going against him.
He’s 7 years old, he’s big, he acts more like a hound then the other breed mixed in there, which we feel is probably Rottweiler.
His bellow is loud, so if you’re not ready for it, look out.
He doesn’t like cats AT ALL, not keen on the little dogs, and he’s very particular about bigger dogs.
He can’t play at a dog park, because you just never know. He’s walked on leash because you just never know.
He loves kids, but he’s so big and clumsy, he runs over them, so of course, he isn’t welcome around them. However, older kids can probably handle the 90 lbs of clumsiness
What he does have going for him is he is an extremely lovable dog. Loves to be with his human. Loves to play with toys, and play any game his human can think up.
He’s got a great nose on him and he LOVES to find things.
He’s easy to love because he’s so funny, and keeps people entertained.
He loves car rides where he can hang his head out the window, letting the wind flap through his ears.
After a couple of good walks and plays in a day, Otis is ready to call it a night, and he’s very content to just hang out with his human companion.
Otis must have a fenced yard, and the fence needs to be at least 6 feet high, so he can’t jump over, because sometimes Otis thinks he’s agile.
Otis also is very respectful of invisible fencing, and any deterrent put in front of him.
He’s not much of a tester, and learns after the first encounter.
Otis would make an excellent search and rescue, contraband, or scent dog, BUT Otis is a family dog first and foremost.
Otis will not be adopted to anyone who’s interest is hunting.
Adoption Applications, Home checks, Interviews and References are required.
WE DO NOT SHIP..... For more information, contact Chelco Farms Border Collie Rescue at chelco@shaw.ca

Age: Senior        Breed: Rotti Cross

Rhonda 's Story:
What a wonderful old girl she is. Like so many animals, Rhonda spent her life not being valued for the wonderful companion she is. She was raised on a farm and when the farm changed hands, Rhonda kept getting left behind. Sometimes people were kind to her, fed her, gave her shelter, but often she was left to fend for herself as if she had no more value than a piece of equipment. When the last owner died, some kind folks that were feeding her took her to the local shelter, and that's when we were called.

WCRR got the call about an old girl that was incontinent and wasn't doing well in the shelter. So we said, just send her down and we will care for her. I didn't really think that we would be able to find a home for her. Its not like people are lining up to adopt 11 yr old leaky Rottweilers. But miracles do happen and thru the help of angels, the perfect home stepped forward. Rhonda made herself at home right away. She met all the resident dogs and let them know that she would put up with no nonsense, got to meet the horses and clearly had met horses before. And the cats, who would have known that this old girl loved cats.

Rhonda is no longer incontinent, she only needs bathroom breaks more often than younger dogs, she sleeps wherever she wants in the house, is fed only the best food available, has all the health care she needs, and most important, loves and is loved by her humans.

Sadie @ WCRR

Age: 5        Breed: Rottie

Sadie 's Story:
Meet Sadie. she is about 5 yrs old. She is currently with our vet boarding until we can find a foster home for her. At this time we aren't completely sure what is wrong with her. We have ruled out Mange but she will be seeing a specialist on Tues at Canada West for more testing.

Sadie needs 3 things.

1) she needs foster care in the area. she needs to go to Canada West in Vancouver for testing/treatment and she needs to see our own vet in langley. This girl appears to be great with dogs, cats and most likely very tolerant around kids. she adores people and only wants to be next to you. Her story is long, involved and sad. Enough to say, everyone in Sadies world has let her down. WCRR is going to do everything possible to help her.
2) Her vet care is very expensive. and her recovery may be months. For the first time every, I am asking for financial help. We can't do this alone. We need to find a way to get monies for her ongoing care and a special diet. I know times are tough for everyone but no donation is too small.

3) Sadie needs your prayers. She needs good energy sent her way. This sweet lady is quite down. Not only is she missing her owners, her illness and weight loss have left her listess.

If you can help in anyway please let us know

Sasha @

Age: 9        Breed: Rotti Cross

Sasha 's Story:
Sasha is an older girl with lots of life left.

Sasha is a very young 9 yr old girl. She is playful and loves her soccer balls. She knows some commands and looks to her human for direction. Like many of her breed though, she does need someone that will take the lead. If you do not, she will. And that is not a good thing for her. Left to her own devices, she can become quite pushy.

While she is still new to us there are a couple of things we do know. She can live with other dogs but she does pick her friends very carefully. So if you are looking for a dog to take to the dog park, Sasha is not the girl for you. We are not sure but we doubt that she likes cats. Because of her age, we would like her to go to an adult home only. In her previous life Sasha did live with a single woman that she bonded to very deeply. We hope there is another single woman out there looking for a companion.

Sasha needs an indoor home where she can be part of your life. She must have a high quality diet so that her health remains good. She needs moderate exercise and a soft warm place to call home. She is up to date on her shots, is spayed and housetrained.

Zeke @ WCRR

Age: 1        Breed: rottweiler

Zeke 's Story:
Zeke is a lovely little rotti boy who loves life!

His first few months were spent with no rules or boundaries and he was the king of his castle, using his teeth and growl to rule the world! Zeke has been with us for less than a week now and while he was a bit grumpy at first at having rules to follow, he has accepted them quickly and graciously.

Zeke is a very intelligent boy and learns everything after being shown just one or two times. After one lesson he sits nicely and waits calmly for his food until permission is given for him to eat. After one lesson on the leash, he has learned to walk nicely beside the handler and has even learned the automatic sit when we stop walking. He will have no trouble learning anything you want to teach him, but most importantly, Zeke needs rules and boundaries in his life so that he can continue to understand that he is not the king of the world. He is still prone to temper tantrums when he doesn’t get his way, but once shown that that behaviour is not acceptable, he doesn’t test that boundary again. As new things come up, he will need to have a firm but kind leader who can show him how to properly behave in these situations.

Zeke has not had much opportunity to play with other dogs until just recently and he is still learning. The first day he was with a group of dogs he became so nervous that he sat by the gate and whimpered and wanted out. But after a few days he has begun interacting with the dogs, although his social skills are still lacking. He will need to continue to socialize with people and other dogs while he is still young to avoid any future problems when he gets bigger.

Zeke needs a calm family to call his own with no small children, as his temper tantrums often involve nipping. His new family will need to have experience with the breed and the challenges that can arise from owning a highly intelligent large breed dog. He will need someone who is committed to providing him with lots of exercise and ongoing training throughout his life, but who is calm, patient and understanding. He is not a couch potato and wants to explore the world! Zeke’s family must understand how to enforce rules and boundaries to continue helping him become a well mannered adult rotti.
